My story and why I started this podcast

Hi, my name is Omer Galily. I was born in Kibbutz Nirim in southern Israel, and for the past nine years I have been living with my family in Spain.

First of all, I have to say — I’m very excited. This is my very first podcast episode ever. Even though I’m recording alone in my home, it feels like there are thousands of listeners on the other side.

This is Pashut Ivrit, a Hebrew learning podcast designed for intermediate Hebrew learners who want to improve their listening skills through real, natural Hebrew.

So what is this podcast about? Who is it for? And what will you get from it?

🎧 The inspiration behind this Hebrew learning podcast

One day, I came across a Spanish podcast called “Hoy Hablamos” (“Today We Speak”).

Two friends created a daily podcast to help people learn Spanish naturally through listening.

I started listening to it during commutes and workouts, and it quickly became one of my main tools for learning Spanish.

Even when I didn’t understand everything, I understood enough — and more importantly, I was constantly exposed to real, natural language.

That experience made me realize something important:
listening is one of the most powerful ways to learn a language.

Why Hebrew?

Years later, a friend suggested I start giving private Hebrew lessons.

At first, I dismissed the idea:

• There are already many Hebrew teachers
• Who even wants to learn Hebrew?
• It’s too competitive

But then I asked myself — what if I created a podcast like the one that helped me learn Spanish?

A Hebrew listening practice podcast for people who want to improve naturally, without pressure.

And that’s how Pashut Ivrit was born.

Of course, Hebrew is spoken by a much smaller number of people than Spanish. So I don’t know if this idea will work.

But only you — the listeners — can tell me that.

In this Hebrew learning podcast, we will explore a wide range of topics connected to Israel and the Hebrew language, including:

• Hebrew grammar, vocabulary, slang, and everyday expressions
• Israeli food and culture
• Traditions and holidays
• People, trends, and current events
• Conversations with guests

The goal is simple:
